Artist contributions to Leaves - Palmer Sculpture Biennial 2026
Jenny Allport
Jenny completed one large textile piece for the Leaves project- being approximately 1.5m x 1.2m. The unbleached linen piece was sprayed with acrylic paint mixed with fabric medium, which was then fixed using heat treatment. The three colours used were inspired by the colour of the sky, the casuarina bark, and the colour of acacia phyllodes.

Jenny is an emerging Adelaide based artist who completed BVA (Honours) in 2025. She uses experimental materials and unconventional techniques to apply paint to surfaces. Jenny is deeply influenced by the degraded environments of urban areas, and produces abstracted artworks influenced by the notion of care.
With Jenny's permission, Lisa Conolly cut this into three long pieces, each being about 1.5m x 0.4m, and each of these was framed using pleats to create a wedge shape for the ground spiral Leaves installation. Blue denim was sewn on to create loops for ropes to be threaded for installation. Cotton crochet chain stitch edges were added to the sides to take pegs.
