We get large flocks of black cockatoos especially during winter. They make a lot of noise, and they sharpen their beaks on the power lines and feed in the nearby pine forest at Flinders University in Adelaide. I did this painting from a photo that I took. I carefully drew up the painting first, but then painted it quite quickly during a demonstration at the Blackwood Rotarty Art show, where I was artist in residence.
